BASED UPON THE Reginald Rose PLAY “Twelve Angry Men”

CO-PRoduction of Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia lavakunstikool, Tartu Uus Teater and Paide music and theatrehouse.

A gripping tale about jurors, who, trapped in a same room, are forced with a task to make a unanimous decision- guilty or not guilty. But to find harmony between twelve different persons, all from their own respective classes and cultures, is no easy task.

Director Mart Koldits: “This play helps us to remind ourselves how fragile all our decisions and opinions are. In order to make an unbiased decison, you have to go to a lot of hard work inside yourself. Life shows that we all are prisoners of our past and all our words are shadowed by the pasts of ourselves and those around us.

This is the most famous work by author Reginald Rose. It was nominated for two Oscars, best picture and best screenplay. It recieved the Edgar Allan Poe prize for best screenplay and won the Golden Bear award in 1957. It has been brought to stage numerous times, most notably in 1996 in London Comedy Theatre by director Harold Pinter.
