An actor unexpectedly bumps into his old friend in the woods. They have not spoken in years and do not know where to start. They joy of the reunioun slowly begins to develop into a remorseless unease. After sitting in the silence for a while, the actor discovers that the friend is whispering something into the abyss. He leans back to hear and after a while he can pinpoint certain words from the buzz. The words slowly mold into stories about the friends life, they become hypnotic recollections that pull the actor into their grasp.
The stories that the friend (rico) is telling are at times heart-wrenchingly beautiful and at times unbelievably eerie. The actor (Kirill) just continues to listen. Forgotten manors, snowfield drenched in blood, a blind dog, an unknown smile at the end of a dark street, a rainy morning. The actors mind and body begin to fill with terror. Step-by-step. As time goes on, the endless images become more and more lurid. He has to get these stories out. He has to forget it all. Whatever it takes.
THE MONSTER is a performance where actor Kirill Havanski, artist Freda Purik and friend rico take the audience to a journey into the dark world of horror stories. Where does fear begin and where does it end? When does the imaginative start and where the real ends? From the darkness to the stage comes THE MONSTER with a moment, where our brains create a monster out of a long lost friend and lets a black-black man from a black-black drag us into his black-black world.
